When Arrowhead updates Helldivers 2, it creates division among players. Now it looks like things are getting serious, with entire platforms challenging each other. The Helldivers 2 subreddit has blamed the game’s official Discord for pushing “unilateral” changes to the game, mainly regarding certain popular weapon nerfs.

This turf war between the two communities has been going on for a while now, though it was officially contextualized in a thread posted on Tuesday, which collected screenshots of heated discussions on Discord. The thread's creator claimed that players who disagree with the developers are bombarded with "clown emojis" and negative comments, while those who praise the developers receive all the support. Many in the subreddit agree with this notion, though the consensus is certainly not universal.

"I get that AH has been running small Discord community-style games for almost a decade, but Helldivers 2 isn't suited for that and they need to realize that," one user said in the reply. Another claimed that "people act like developers can't be wrong," referring to those who always stand by the developers' actions without question. "Just because it's their 'vision' doesn't make it a good one," they added. Many players in the thread focused their attention on one of the developers, Alexus, who is part of the balancing team at Arrowhead, and didn't dwell too much on the whole "clash of the communities" side of things.

The thread also saw dissenting voices, most notably from one player who said that Reddit and Discord users give themselves too much credit and “vastly overestimate the value of their opinions to the developers.”
