Forgetting your Nintendo Network ID username or password doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. Nintendo understands that you have to remember dozens of logins and passwords, and the company offers a recovery tool to help you retrieve your forgotten ID and reset your password.

If you’re already signed in to Nintendo Network and just need a refresher on your ID or name, open the user selection menu on your Wii U. Your ID will be displayed in orange below your nickname. On Nintendo 3DS, open the System Settings menu and tap Nintendo Network ID Settings. Your ID will be displayed on the sign-in screen, below your nickname.
If your account has been blocked because you have forgotten your Nintendo Network ID, please visit the 'Retrieve Nintendo Network ID' page and follow the instructions.
If you're having trouble remembering the password you initially used to secure your account, visit the Nintendo Network Temporary Password page. Enter the email address associated with your ID, and Nintendo will send you a temporary password.
