Team Cherry has largely kept quiet when it comes to development updates for Hollow Knight: Silksong since its February 2019 announcement. Now, it looks like we'll be getting our first look at the game in over a year during a new Nintendo Indie World Showcase.

Nintendo confirmed that it will hold an Indie World Showcase on April 17th, featuring 20 minutes of updates on games coming out in 2024. No details were shared about which games would be included, but the internet being the internet, Hollow Knight: Silksong was immediately front and center, as it has been at every showcase in recent years. This time around, though, there’s some momentum behind the game actually making an appearance.

After a misstep on June 12, 2022, where Xbox social media accounts reported that Silksong would be releasing in “the next 12 months,” Team Cherry later announced a delay in May 2023, stating that the game was “planned to release in the first half of 2023, but development is still ongoing.” We haven’t received any concrete updates on the game since then, but there are now signs that the game will be revealed again soon, possibly tomorrow during Nintendo Indie World.

In the past year alone, Hollow Knight Nendoroid figures for Silksong and The Knight went live for pre-order, Silksong received a review in Korea on February 20, and an Xbox Store page for the game was added to link to existing listings on other platforms on April 1. Roughly 24 hours before the Indie World announcement, it was confirmed that Silksong had also received a review in Australia. This could all be a coincidence and mean nothing, but it’s the most hope we’ve had for a potential reveal since the game was delayed into May 2023.
