According to showrunner and series co-creator Ryan Condal, House of the Dragon will end after its fourth season.

During a press conference for the series following the Season 2 finale on Sunday (via Variety ), Condal revealed that Season 4 of the hit HBO Game of Thrones spinoff will be its final season. Alongside the news, Condal also revealed that Season 3 of the series — which does not yet have a release date but is expected to premiere in 2026 — is set to begin production.
According to Condal, House of the Dragon season 3 will go into production sometime in “early 2025.”
“I haven't had any conversations with HBO about it yet, but I do expect that the rhythm of the show, from a dramatic story perspective, will remain the same from Season 2 onward,” Condal said.
