Aegon awakens, but Aemond makes sure he knows how the order of things has changed. Aemond also makes it clear that he intends to reinstate Otto Hightower as the Hand, prompting the ever-ambitious Larys Strong to go to Aegon and deny him the concoction Orwyle has prepared for him (presumably milk of the poppy, an opiate that acts as both a painkiller and anesthetic). Even though this will leave Aegon in constant pain, his mind will be clear.
