If your iPhone screen is completely white and doesn’t show any icons or apps, you might be dealing with the infamous iPhone White Screen, also known as the iPhone White Screen of Death. That name might sound scary, but in most cases, it’s not as bad as it seems. Your iPhone isn’t going to explode or anything.

The iPhone White Screen of Death rarely lives up to its name. The steps explained in this article can often fix it (and can also repair an iPad or iPod touch. See the end of the article for more information).

This won’t fix the problem in most cases, but there’s a small chance that you don’t have a White Screen of Death at all. Instead, you might have accidentally turned on screen magnification. If so, you might have zoomed in really close to something white, making it appear as a white screen. In that case, normal taps won’t help you.

To restore magnification, hold three fingers together and use them to double-tap the screen. If your screen is magnified, it will return to normal view. Turn off magnification in Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom > Off.
