As a virtual assistant, Google Assistant can conduct two-way conversations to confirm and receive voice commands. You can choose from several options for Google Assistant’s voice, including male and female options, as well as different accents. If you find that you can’t change Google Assistant’s voice, there’s likely a conflict with the language settings on your phone.

How to Fix Google Voice Assistant (No Voice Input, Text Response Only)

If the option to change the voice of Google Assistant is not listed, then the issue is usually related to the language settings on your device. There are two main language settings: the language of the phone's operating system (OS) and the input language that Google Assistant uses to understand you.

The operating system's primary language or dialect must be covered by the Google Assistant language options. If it isn't, you won't see the option to change the Google Assistant voice. For example, if the operating system language is set to English (Ireland), you won't see the option to change the Google Assistant voice in the Google Assistant app's settings menu. If the operating system's system language is set to English (United States) and you still can't change the Google Assistant voice, try setting the Google Assistant input language to English (United States).

If that doesn't work, there may be an issue with the Google app or a bug that is preventing Google Assistant from working properly on your phone.
