Handy when it stops working

SD cards are mainly used in mobile devices such as smartphones, game consoles, cameras and so on. However, we often need to use them on Windows computer. Either to copy data as soon as possible or to do some troubleshooting with SD cards that seem to have stopped working.

One of the most common reasons to format an SD card in Windows is that it no longer works properly on whatever device you were using it with. Formatting is the usual first step to finding out if the card should be thrown in the trash. Let’s take a look at how to do that.

Before we go any further, you should be well aware that when you format an SD card (or any drive for that matter), all of your data will be lost. So if at all possible, and if it matters, back up the contents of your SD card before formatting it!
