The first flying mount you can capture is Nitewing. It is a neutral elemental Pal that you can find flying in the northwest of the starting area. They can be seen around the Fort Ruins, Grassy Behemoth Hills, and Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance Fast Travel points.
Since they are neutral, it is best to use the dark element against them. But to do that, you have to let them come down first. No matter how strong your Pal is, it is difficult to damage the flying enemy from the land. Take your most powerful ranged weapon, attack it until it is weak, and then use the Mega or Giga spheres to capture it. It can be between 9 and 20 levels, so it is best to master the weapon first by using it on land enemies and hitting the target in the air.
