As you explore Commonwealth in Fallout 4, you'll come across several locations, including Med-Tek Research. To continue in that area, however, you'll need Jacob's password.

With dozens of locations, hundreds of NPCs, and even more enemies to face, Fallout 4 is a truly unique experience. Ultimately, one thing players love about the Fallout franchise is the ability to explore the wastelands on your own. However, some places are closed off unless we start a specific quest, such as the one in Med-Tek Research. Don't worry, though, because we know how to get Jacob's password.

The truth is that you can't claim Jacob's password yourself. But one of your companions, MacCready, has it, and you'll need to take him there to unlock the terminal and explore Med-Tek Research.

In Med-Tek Research, half of the facility is locked behind a password-protected terminal. The location is actually a crucial location in MacCready's personal storyline. So in order to gain access to the locked part of the area, you'll first need to recruit the companion. This isn't hard. Head to Goodneighbor, west of Diamond City. Once there, visit the Third Rail and watch MacCready's confrontation with Winlock and Barnes. Then you can add him to your party.
