The Voice Memos app comes pre-installed on every iPhone and is a great way to reliably record any kind of audio. Over the years, the app has accumulated robust features like audio editing and enhancements that make recording voice a pleasure. It’s so good that you don’t need to spend money on third-party apps or a separate recording device.

Swipe down from the center of your iPhone’s home screen, find and launch the Voice Memos app. First, tap the All Recordings option at the top. If this is your first time using the app, you’ll see a blank screen and a red Record icon. Tap the Record icon to start a new recording. You’ll see a live waveform to let you know that the audio is being recorded. When you’re done, tap the Record button again.

The recording will appear at the top, with the title 'New Recording'. Tap the title to give it a recognizable name.

Tap the Settings icon to reveal some useful options.
