Your buildings can take damage, whether it’s from creatures attacking at night, an accidental swing of your pickaxe, or your recruit knocking over a tree. You can check the health of your structures by approaching them and hovering over them until their health bar appears. If you want to repair your damaged build instead of building a new one from scratch, you’ll need a hammer.
You can craft a Hammer once you unlock its schematic. To do so, you'll need to purchase it from an Essence Trader. You can look on your map for the Trader, marked with a ticket icon.
You can buy the crafting recipe from the Trader by using 30 Essence Dust. You can easily get it by taking a few items from your inventory. Once you buy the recipe from him, you can craft one at your Workbench whenever you want, with the right resources.
