How to use Windows Sandbox – a lightweight virtual machine

Imagine being able to test software or visit websites without worrying about your computer getting a virus. That’s what a browser sandbox does. You can do this with the Sandbox app that’s built into Windows 10 or another free app called Sandboxie. The Sandboxie app is the easiest way to do this, though. Did we mention it’s free?

Sandbox is a bit of a strange term to use with computers, but think about what a real sandbox does. It’s a set of walls to keep all the sand in. Otherwise it just creeps out and ruins a section of the lawn. It also gives us a defined space to play in.

The type of sandbox we're talking about, a browser sandbox, does the same thing. It keeps things in so they don't sneak out and mess up your computer. It also provides a place to play freely without worry.
