A Harpoon Gun in Sea of Thieves is a mounted tool on each side of your ship, regardless of the size of the ship. You can also find the Harpoon on rowboats, in Sovereign tents at outposts, and on various islands. They cannot be destroyed and can be used by any player at any time.
A Harpoon Gun is a very useful tool and will become one of your best friends when sailing the seas. To use it, stand close to the Harpoon and press the interaction button. You can then aim the line and shoot at any surface, item, teammate or enemy.
Aiming the Harpoon takes some skill, especially because of the waves, so try to get a feel for the waves and their pattern when shooting at a small target. Keep in mind that if you shoot the line and sail too far from the target, the line will snap. It can also snap if the Harpoon gun takes damage (although the gun itself cannot break).
