Control Center gets a complete overhaul in iOS 18. You can now move nearly all of your controls around, add more controls than ever before, and access multiple pages of controls. My only complaint is that it’s still a bit too difficult to launch Control Center from the top-right corner of the iPhone’s screen. That gripe aside, it’s a good time to start customizing Control Center, and here’s how to do it.

At the time of writing, iOS 18 isn’t yet generally available. The good news is that there is a free developer beta that you can sign up for right now. Follow the instructions here to install the iOS 18 beta on your iPhone, but be careful: you risk instability and bugs by doing so. I recommend using a second phone until the official launch if you can.

Up until iOS 17, you had to go to the Control Center page in your iPhone’s Settings app to add or remove controls. With iOS 18, much has changed, and you can now make many adjustments directly from the Control Center. To get started, open the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of your screen and tapping the + button in the top-left corner. You can also long-press any empty space in the Control Center and then tap the Add a Control button near the bottom of your iPhone.

You will now see many options and a search bar at the top. Go through these shortcuts and add whatever you want. My favorite controls are automation routines from the Shortcuts app and the Vehicle Motion Cues feature.
