Humanity isn't even out yet, but I'm already thinking of reasons to play just one more turn.

HUMANITY: The "Civ 6 Killer" – TWO YEARS LATER

Sid Meier’s Civilization is easily one of the most recognized strategy game franchises in gaming history. However, the series has felt stagnant in recent years, bogged down by unchanging mechanics and a lack of uniqueness among the game’s various factions and civilizations. With Humankind, Amplitude Studios seemingly builds on the tried-and-true formula that made Civilization so enduring, while also exploring new ways to play through history.

Unlike the Civilization series, and even other 4X strategy games, Humankind lets players create a unique civilization based on 60 different cultures. Each culture adds a different layer to the gameplay, helping to create a unique version of human history every time you play a match. It’s a breath of fresh air for the genre, and something we’ve been needing for a while.

Explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate. These are the four core tenets of the 4X strategy genre, which has included such legendary titles as Civilization IV, Endless Legend, and more. Unlike the more fantastical or sci-fi entries into the genre, Humankind will explore human history, similar to the original Civilization games.
