It seemed like just another Sunday LCS match for veteran League of Legends top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-young, but his MVP performance in Liquid’s 2-0 win over Immortals came with a record that was initially thought to be unbreakable. The 29-year-old Korean now has the most LCS matches played in the region’s history.

Doublelift vs. WildTurtle: In Numbers

In his 630th LCS appearance against Immortals on July 28, Impact passed Jason "WildTurtle" Tran to record the most games played in the North American league since its inception. Impact was unaware of the record in his post-match interview, saying he was too focused on the game — and his dream of a Worlds return — to realize it. "That's good to hear, but my goal is not yet achieved," he said.

Impact’s journey in the North American League began seven years ago with Team Impulse before joining NRG and then Cloud9, where he finished second in his fourth split since arriving from SK Telecom T1. Since then, he’s established himself as one of the region’s best top laners, showing remarkable consistency across eight storied years in the region, including six LCS titles.

His first stint with Liquid was perhaps his best since leaving his domestic Korean league, with a three-year run that included an MSI finals appearance and a four-split streak before leaving for Evil Geniuses. He returned to Liquid following FlyQuest’s doomed 2023 Summer split and picked up where he left off, helping Liquid secure the Spring title.
