People staying at select Hyatt hotels can now use their iPhones and Apple Watches to unlock their room doors, meaning losing your “key” is now much harder—or more traumatic—when it does happen.

Six Hyatt hotels are participating in the program, which lets iPhone users store their room keys in the Apple Wallet app. To enter your room, you simply wave or tap your phone on the reader on the lock. The trick also works with your Apple Watch if it shares your wallet, and you can use the same trick to enter guest-only areas of the hotel: gyms, business suites and so on.
Like everything digital, there are pros and cons. However, it is quite easy to predict that this is the future and in this case, convenience will easily win, despite the risks.
"If everything you need is on your phone, that can be a real disadvantage. It's much easier to lose your phone than your keys or wallet because you don't have to remove it from your body. Your phone is also more easily stolen," professional traveler and travel writer Becky Moore told Lifewire via email.
