Steven Avery's cellmate reveals details about convicted killer | Celebrity Page

On October 31, 2005, a woman named Teresa Halbach disappeared while working on an assignment for a magazine. Reports indicated that Halbach wanted to take pictures of the vehicle that a woman had to sell. However, she never returned home, and two days later her car was found on the Avery family's property. As the investigation continued, authorities arrested Steven Avery and his nephew for Halbach's disappearance and murder.

According to Oxygen, Teresa Halbach came to the Avery family's junkyard to photograph a van that Steven Avery's sister was selling at their Manitowoc County lot. The outlet quoted Avery as saying that Halbach did indeed come to their lot and left around 2:30 p.m. on October 31. Nearly two days after her disappearance, authorities discovered Halbach's car dumped at the junkyard. Oxygen stated that police searched the vehicle and found Halbach's blood inside. They also found several bone fragments near Avery's fireplace. Additionally, investigators discovered Halbach's car keys in Avery's trailer.

In the first round of questioning, police questioned Steven Avery's cousin. Oxygen reported that the cousin confessed that he and Avery had raped Halbach before Avery murdered her. However, he later retracted his confession after several people investigated the confession of a mentally handicapped boy. Meanwhile, others alleged that police wanted a confession from Avery's cousin and planted information in his head. Despite such allegations, Avery and his cousin went to trial and were given life sentences.
