During Wednesday’s press conference, House Vice Speaker David Suarez, Assistant House Speaker Ernesto Dionisio Jr. and House Committee on Dangerous Drugs Chairman Robert Ace Barbers noted that the public nature of these hearings allows the ICC to access and use the information as needed in its investigation into the crimes against humanity case brought against Duterte.

“I agree with Congressman Dan Fernandez’s position that it can be used not just by the ICC, but by anyone, as long as it seems valuable to whatever enterprise they want to pursue,” Suarez said.

Dionisio said the public nature of these hearings allows for the information gathered to be used for various investigative purposes.
