EXCLUSIVE: Media veterans Jeff Bewkes, Howard Stringer and Jeremy Fox have formed Thoroughbred Studios, a fledgling company that has grown into an overall deal with iHeartPodcasts and a second season order for its first project, a BBC audio drama about the CIA.

MAIN PERFORMER (Kieran Shoemark) – G3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes

Thoroughbred’s USP will be creating drama based on monumental events in modern American history. One of its first projects will be a podcast about the moon landing for iHeart from 24 producer Stephen Kronish. Another project will be about the Vietnam War.

The focus is on dramas that delve into hidden truths behind events in the American Century, a period beginning in the mid-20th century. The iHeartPodcasts deal is for at least four podcasts over the next two years.

The Thoroughbred lineup sees Bewkes as chairman, Fox as CEO and Stringer as executive producer. The trio have held various top positions in media: Stringer was president and CEO of Sony Corp, Bewkes was CEO and eventually chairman of Time Warner, and Fox has led several production companies and the global TV distribution company DRG.
