John Legend will pay tribute to vice presidential candidate Tim Walz's home state of Minnesota by performing a medley of Prince songs at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night, the news was first reported by Rolling Stone and the Minnesota Star Tribune.

Any music that might surround Walz's speech Wednesday night at the DNC meeting in Chicago has been a source of considerable interest, given what a music fan the Minnesota governor has proven to be. Some supporters have even tweeted their wish lists of classic-rock or Minnesota-related acts they'd hope Walz would show up for… but a Replacements reunion is unlikely to happen.

Legend has some history of covering Prince, performing "Nothing Compares 2 U" as part of a Prince tribute at the 2020 Grammys.
