Interestingly, the film has become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024, thanks to its significant box office returns. Moreover, recent reports have confirmed that the film will be available on OTT platforms in the second half of August.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD features an impressive ensemble cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in the lead roles. The supporting cast also includes Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee, Brahmanandam, Rajendra Prasad and Shobhana. The film also features guest appearances by Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Ram Gopal Varma, Krishnakumar, SS Rajamouli, Faria Abdullah, Srinivas Avasarala and KV Anudeep.
The story of Kalki 2898 AD is set 6,000 years after the Kurukshetra War and revolves around the Kalki avatar of Lord Vishnu. Set in three dystopian cities – Kashi, Shambhala and Complex – the story follows Bhairava, played by Prabhas, as he tries to capture Deepika Padukone's character, while Amitabh Bachchan's Ashwathama vows to protect her. Thus, the conflict sets the stage for an epic showdown. Consequently, the film was awarded a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification upon release.
According to recent reports, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD are planning to release the magnum opus on digital platforms earlier than expected. Moreover, Amazon Prime Video is expected to premiere the film on August 23 in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. However, an official confirmation from the streaming giant is still pending. Also, for the Hindi-speaking audience, the digital release is expected on Netflix, although the same is yet to be confirmed.
