While Amazon may have successfully beaten out competition from Barnes & Noble in the battle for the e-reader market, Canadian company Rakuten Kobo proves that the Kindle isn't the only name in town.

Kobo just announced two new products for its growing line of highly regarded e-readers. There’s the $260 Kobo Sage, its newest flagship e-reader, and a refresh of the company’s popular Libra line, the $180 Libra 2. Both devices are available for pre-order and will ship on October 19.
Both devices feature E Ink Carta 1200 displays and Kobo’s ComfortLight Pro feature, which adjusts the screen brightness and color based on the time of day. They also include Bluetooth support for wireless headphones, though you can only use them with the company’s own audiobook service.
As for unique features, the Sage has a large 8-inch (1440 x 1920) touchscreen that you can use to take notes if you purchase the company's Kobo Stylus ($40). The Sage includes 32GB of non-expandable storage, a quad-core 1.8GHz processor and a USB-C port. Interestingly, the Sage is considerably less expensive than Kobo's dedicated e-note tablet, the Elipsa, which costs $399.
