The trailer for Lav Diaz's "Phantosmia," which is making its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in the Out of Competition section, has made its debut.

The film revolves around Hilarion Zabala, whose mysterious olfactory problem has returned. A counselor/psychiatrist suspects it is a lingering case of phantosmia, a phantom smell, and possibly caused by trauma, a deep psychological break. A recommended radical process to cure the ailment was for Hilarion to go back and deal with the darkest currents of his previous life in military service. Transferred to the very remote Pulo Penal Colony, he must also face the horrific reality of his current situation.
