Legendary Entertainment has signed a deal with Eric Heisserer for a first-run television series, Variety has learned exclusively.

Under the deal, Heisserer and Carmen Lewis — with whom Heisserer founded the production company Chronology — will develop and oversee IP-driven and related projects for Legendary. The first project to be developed under the deal is a “Pacific Rim” origin story series.

“Eric is a multi-talented, prolific creator whose track record of critical and commercial success speaks for itself,” said Jason Clodfelter, president of Legendary Television. “We are thrilled to launch our partnership with Eric, Chronology and Carmen on a new entry in the epic, globally acclaimed ‘Pacific Rim’ universe. We are confident their vision will make for a compelling expansion of Legendary’s beloved franchise.”

News of the first-look TV series deal comes less than three weeks after it was announced that Heisserer and Chronology had struck a deal with Sony Pictures for a first-look film.
