New LG 34UC98 Curved Ultrawide Monitor Review

When it comes to desktop immersion, nothing quite compares to a curved, ultrawide computer monitor. The sheer amount of screen real estate combined with the wrap-around view provides an experience that no other setup can match. The LG 34UC98-W Curved UltraWide Monitor is just one of the options out there, but it manages to combine a ridiculous aspect ratio with an impressive resolution and a great selection of ports to make it a compelling option. To see just how good it is, we put it to the test. Read our thoughts on it below.

The LG 34UC98-W follows a similar design language to LG's other monitors. It has a thin bezel with a silver outer border and a small black border of about half an inch. The back of the display and the stand are white, with silver accents around the edge of the display and on the front of the stand for a slightly more premium look.

The curve on the screen is prominent, but not overly dramatic. When we sat at the right distance from the monitor, the curve shaped our field of view nicely, providing enough clearance that didn’t require much head turning, even when looking from one corner to the other. The monitor can be tilted 90 degrees to stand vertically, but the ridiculous height in that position, combined with the curve, made it less than intuitive.
