LG has announced three new wireless, noise-cancelling earbuds from the TONE Free series for 2021 that are compatible with iOS and Android: the FP5, FP8, and FP9.

The LG TONE Free line of wireless earbuds is getting three more additions via the recently announced FP series. The LG TONE Free FP5, FP8, and FP9 are the company’s latest active noise cancellation (ANC) wireless earbuds, all of which come with an IPX4 water resistance rating, making them resistant to splashes. Each of the new earbuds also offers different options depending on the model.
Each of the three FP series earbuds features noise cancellation with ambient and chat modes, Meridian spatial audio functionality, medical-grade earbuds, and fast multi-pairing. However, the FP5, arguably the more “budget-conscious” model, stops there with a claimed 22 hours of battery life with ANC turned off. Both the FP8 and FP9 offer slightly better battery life at 24 hours without ANC.
The FP8 and FP9 feature an auto-cleaning UVnano charging case, which uses a built-in UV-C LED to kill bacteria inside the speaker mesh while the case charges. UVnano technology is not available on the FP5. The FP8 appears to be the only earbud pair of the three to offer wireless charging, while the FP9 offers Plug & Wireless, which doubles as a wireless dongle when connected to a device via a USB-C to AUX cable.
