Danish Counter-Strike 2 sniper Casper "cadiaN" Møller has been benched by Team Liquid just days into the mid-year player break following a lackluster opening season in 2024. More changes could be on the way for the beleaguered roster after this year's revamp failed to produce silverware.

CS2 Update: More Drama

Liquid representatives said today that they will work with cadiaN to ensure a smooth transition from the roster in a June 17 post on X (formerly Twitter). “Our time together didn’t go as we had hoped, but we know he has a bright future ahead of him,” Liquid’s social media statement read. CadiaN also shared a short message shortly after the announcement went live, saying that “better times will come.”

CadiaN’s benching brings an end to Liquid’s 2024 CS2 experiment, which saw the squad struggle to make its mark on the scene. Playoff appearances at S-tier LAN events like IEM Chengdu and ESL Pro League Season 19 proved irreversible, while defeats in crucial qualifiers meant offline opportunities for the struggling squad. The disappointing season was capped off with a Grand Finals loss to Eternal Fire in CCT Season One and a failure to make the finals on home soil against a HooXi-less G2 in Dallas.

Reports in May suggested that changes were expected in the TL camp during the off-season, with cadiaN the likely loser, but further details today could mean that another member of the squad has also left. Journalist Richard Lewis said today, according to a reliable source, that coach Zews would also be out of the squad, with Canadian star Twistzz expected to wear the captain’s armband.
