On April 26th, Mojang officially titled the 1.21 update the Tricky Trials Update, indicating just how substantial the update is compared to previous updates. There is no official release date yet for the Minecraft 1.21 update, but based on previous update patterns, it will likely release sometime in mid-2024. Update 1.20 launched on June 7, 2023, so there is a good chance that Update 1.21 will also launch sometime this summer.
Starting with the 1.21 update, the wolf mob will no longer be a regular white wolf, as there will be a total of nine wolf variants. Each of the nine wolves is tied to specific biomes and can only be found by traveling to the appropriate locations.
