The monstrous hype continues to build for Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest entry in the hugely beloved franchise, and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto took to the stage at Gamescom 2024 to reveal the latest new trailer for the upcoming sequel. While a firm release date for the game has yet to be announced, there was still plenty of visual content to get excited about in the new trailer, including more new monsters, more action-packed gameplay, and the new main settlement.

The trailer opens with our first look at one of the game’s monsters, a fearsome arachnid known as Lala Barina. She may be making a dash for her cousin Rakna-Kadaki from Monster Hunter: Rise, as our new group of hunters find themselves entangled in the Scarlet Forest, a bright red web of insane proportions created by Lala Barina herself.

Gameplay reveals the mechanics of some of Lala Barina's attacks, including one where her belly turns into a surprisingly beautiful red blossom. Of course, we still wouldn't recommend getting too close. We also get to see where she'll face off against another aggressive monster during the fight, a returning mechanic from previous Monster Hunter games.

We also get a first-hand look at what will likely be the main settlement for all your hunting needs. As in previous games, players can craft new armor sets and weapons, partake in special meals that boost your stats, trade goods, and more. We also get another glimpse at the bird-like mounts called Seikrets that we’ll be using this time around.
