NBCUniversal is beating its own optimistic forecasts for the Paris Summer Olympics, with total advertising revenue expected to top $1.25 billion.

NEW SKILLS submitted to Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The number will be a new Olympic record, the company said Tuesday, surpassing the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, which were moved to summer 2021 due to Covid. Last spring, NBCU executives expressed confidence in Paris’ ability to surpass Tokyo’s $1.2 billion haul, especially given the relative advantages of France’s time zone and its ability to host live spectators.

The ad update follows a series of positive ratings reports from the first days of the Summer Games, with strong ratings from last Friday's Opening Ceremony followed by increased viewership.
