Today, April 19, 2024, might just be one of the best days ever. It’s Friday, for starters, and who doesn’t love a Friday? We just got news that Amazon Prime’s Fallout series has been renewed for a second season , and more importantly, Taylor Swift’s new album just dropped.

The Tortured Poet's Department: The Anthology, besides being an absolute mouthful of an album title, is also a bit of a banger. It sees the world's biggest pop star return to her more comfortable, conversational style while taking aim at former flames. But you're not here to listen to me criticize Swift, you're here because at least some people think the title track, "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone, has something to do with Epic Games' battle royale game, Fortnite. I'm here to tell you it has nothing to do with anything.

Where does my evidence come from that this is the case? Google Trends, of course. It turns out that people are specifically searching for “Fortnite Taylor Swift.” Is this just a misspelling of the title track? Do people want to know that T Swift herself loves nothing more than to pull off a few Victory Royales in a night? The jury is still out on this one. But fear not, because I’ve taken the trouble to dissect two entire sections of Fortnight’s lyrics to see if there’s any truth to these claims.

“I was supposed to be sent away, but they forgot to pick me up. I was a functioning alcoholic until no one noticed my new aesthetic.”
