“Being ranked 37th in the world, with two gold and two bronze medals, is a remarkable achievement that reflects the indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication of our athletes,” said Romualdez.

“Our country has waited a century to see such success on the world stage. The victories of Carlos Yulo, who won two gold medals in gymnastics and a bronze medal from Filipino boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, have made our nation proud and we celebrate this momentous achievement,” he added.

Romualdez also expressed my deepest appreciation to all the Filipino athletes who made it to Paris, and to people like EJ Obiena and Bianca Pagdanganan, “who narrowly missed the podium but inspired millions with their perseverance.”
