Park fire grows into fourth largest wildfire in California history
The Park Fire in Northern California is now the fourth largest in state history. The blaze has grown to 400,956 acres, destroyed 564 structures and damaged 50 as of Saturday morning, according to an update from Cal Fire. The fire is 27% contained.
"The Park Fire has been extremely active over the past 24 hours," Cal Fire said. "Hot, dry weather has reduced moisture levels in vegetation in the fire area. Atmospheric instability has caused the fire to remain active, even during the overnight hours."
According to the update, the Park Fire is burning in Butte, Plumas, Shasta and Tehama counties and is 27% contained.
