Pine64 has just introduced a new e-ink tablet with pen and Linux support called PineNote.

The company announced the product in a blog post on Sunday, saying it would ship to early adopters later this year for $399. XDA Developers said the PineNote will have features such as an ARM-based quad-core Rockchip RK3566 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of eMMC flash storage, dual microphones, dual speakers, 2.4/5GHz AC Wi-Fi, and more.

“The 10.3-inch, 3:4 panel has a resolution of 1404×1872 (227 DPI), can display 16 shades of gray. It features a frontlight with an adjustment from cool (white) to warm (amber) light,” Pine64 wrote in his blog post.

“What this means in practice is that you can light the panel in dim or dark rooms as you wish. For those who don’t know, warm light is usually better in very dim rooms, as it can significantly reduce eye strain.”
