Mac-only Photoshop competitor Pixelmator Pro has just rolled out a new update. Version 3.5.8 now lets you edit text in PDFs the same way you edit text layers in regular documents. What's more, the new update lets you do the same in PDFs that Apple creates in Safari, Keynote, Pages and the like.

Pixelmator new update! And it's FUN!

Additionally, Pixelmator Pro now makes it easy to create customizable outlines around text layers. There’s also a new collection of grid-like templates called bentos. These are great for displaying multiple images within a single graphic, as you might see in a new product or app release.

Pixelmator Pro already works with vector PDFs, allowing you to import items like shapes, text, and images as separate layers. Now you can edit the text layers like you would any other text in a Pixelmator document. The app extracts the typically uneditable text imports and analyzes the font, formatting, and colors. Even if you don’t have the font on your Mac, you can still change it in Pixelmator Pro.

The new system makes importing Apple PDFs much easier and smoother than before, the company promises. You can even use Apple fonts, such as SF Pro.
