If you use browser extensions like Proton Pass to protect your passwords, you know how annoying it can be when you’re without an internet connection for some reason. Proton aims to alleviate that pain.

Proton Pass Review | How Good is This New Password Manager?

The company just announced a new app, Proton Pass for Windows, which will let you access your Proton Pass information even when you don’t have access to an internet connection. Of course, you’ll need to subscribe to the premium version of Proton for offline access, but even without that, you can still use the password manager for your desktop applications.

In late 2023, Proton began making some of its apps, such as Proton Mail and Proton Drive, available on desktop, so this latest move is just an extension of that (and was promised in previous releases). Like those other services, you can access Proton Pass for Windows as a free service or as part of a premium subscription.

As part of the free services, you get access to 2 vaults, which are encrypted storage spaces (also called 'containers') for your data, up to 10 hide-my-email aliases, and you can use the app on an unlimited number of devices shared with up to two other people.
