The RDC 2024 event was full of surprises as the developers introduced several new features for the Roblox gaming platform. One feature that caught my attention was the introduction of the Party. It is no secret that Roblox is played by millions of players every day and the platform needed a dedicated communication area. Therefore, this gap will soon be filled with the upcoming Party feature.

The Party feature lets you create a group with your friends where you can chat via text, communicate via voice, and even share your favorite experiences with just one tap. It works similarly to the popular VoIP platform, Discord.

It’s important to note, however, that only users 9 years and older will be able to join a party. Additionally, Roblox has confirmed that the feature will initially launch with text chat, followed by voice communication. Luckily, the best part is that Party is rolling out fully by the end of this year, meaning you’ll be able to use it to its full potential in less than three months. But it doesn’t stop there.

Like Discord, the Party feature offers an overlay while you play games that lets you see who’s talking in the channel, along with a few handy shortcuts to quickly perform certain actions. While it’s not officially confirmed yet, I expect the Party feature to launch on Android and iOS platforms first, given that the RDC event featured a mobile demonstration.
