The problem with most security systems is that they activate after (or while) someone enters your home. SimpliSafe aims to change that.

SimpliSafe Home Security Review | What's New in 2023?

The home security company announced Tuesday that it’s rolling out a limited pilot of its Live Guard Outdoor Protection service, which uses AI to detect when someone approaches your home and determine whether it’s friend or foe. If it’s not someone you know (that you’ve created a profile for), the AI will trigger an alert to a live human who can use your cameras and two-way speakers to monitor and confront the stranger. It works similarly to the indoor feature that launched last year.

“For decades, the home security industry has been reactive, only taking action when a break-in is in progress. SimpliSafe is committed to challenging that norm and giving our customers new, more proactive ways to feel and be safe,” said Christian Cerda, Chief Executive Officer at SimpliSafe. “Live Outdoor Monitoring is our latest breakthrough, combining AI and advanced technology with expert monitoring professionals to stop crime before it happens.”

To make sure you don’t get too many false positives, SimpliSafe says it’s made it easy to create profiles for “safe” people in its security app. And once you’ve created a profile for someone, the AI can recognize them. It’s also easy to remove people if circumstances in your life change.
