Retail WoW has had a bit of a stigma in recent years, with people suggesting it has bad expansions, bad updates, and mixed gameplay. Much of this has been led by content creators in the MMO RPG space, with fans shunning Retail for Classic due to sentimentality – until now. These new players, many of whom are gearing up for War Within, have been shocked at how good it is and then enraged by the “lies” about its quality.

It's true that retail WoW has had some less-than-stellar expansions, most notably Shadowlands, with many updates failing to resonate with players and creators. However, the common claim on YouTube and Twitch that "WoW is 100 percent bad" is false, players have stated today, with many encouraging others to "form your own mind."

Players were quick to agree in a Reddit thread on August 4 that many creators don't seem to care about giving honest feedback, even going so far as to claim that retail is in the "worst possible state" it's ever been in, all while they themselves aren't playing.
