The unexpected downtime has affected Slack users worldwide, with some having gotten things back up and running, while others are still waiting. According to @SlackStatus on Twitter, the domain name system (DNS) issue was caused by something on the company’s end and is not related to third-party services.
Slack initially said the issue would be resolved within 12 hours, but later said this was a mistake and that it would actually take more like 24 hours.
Assuming it takes 24 hours from when the outage was first announced, it could be down until approximately 4-5 p.m. ET on Friday.
