Slack announced on Tuesday at the Dreamforce tech conference that the app is getting several new features.

The updates include allowing users to create and share media, and an improvement to direct messaging. The company said in the announcement that it is focused on helping businesses (and their employees) transition to a digital-first environment.
Users can create and share audio, video, and screen recordings with the new Clips feature. Recordings can be shared to channels or via direct messages on Slack, and users have the option to add live captions and searchable transcripts. This type of content can even be sped up or slowed down.
The Clips feature is designed to bridge the gap that teams can experience when working across time zones. It allows them to record meetings and share their clips.
