Microsoft may be improving Snipping Tool – Windows 11’s native screenshot app – with a few markup options for your screenshots. The feature could see Snipping Tool gain the ability to add shapes to images and enhance them with arrows and colors.

The new Windows Snipping Tools add the Shape Highlighter feature

Although the feature has not yet been announced by Microsoft, X user PhantomOcean3 managed to get the feature working in Snipping Tool version 11.2312.33.0.

If Microsoft is indeed working on such a feature, the Snipping Tool will allow you to add circles and squares while editing your images and screenshots. It will also allow users to add lines and arrows, choose fill colors, and outline the shapes.

Users who regularly work on instruction manuals or need to mark up and share the contents of their screen will appreciate these additions, as they gain the ability to edit images and screenshots directly within the Snipping Tool.
