Though it's a few years old now, Something New returns as part of Destiny 2's Solstice 2024 with some coveted perks and combos. And it was definitely in need of a makeover.

The competition for Stasis Hand Cannons has gotten a bit tougher in The Final Shape thanks to Bold Endings, which provide a huge perk pool with the new Heavy Burst archetype. Something New, on the other hand, fires at a powerful (but cumbersome) 120rpm. Thankfully, the Solstice Hand Cannon also stacks, and the Dream Work origin trait can also help out when you’re not playing solo.

Something New is still a 120, so it still takes a few seconds to fully recharge. Since it can’t rely on an origin trait like Igneous Hammer or Better Devils, Rapid Hit is almost a must-have. You can either do it with the origin trait or use Frenzy once it’s activated, freeing it up for one of the new top contenders: Demolitionist.
