Sony is rebranding its streaming app, formerly Bravia Core, and expanding its availability to PS4 and PS5 owners.

NEW PLAYSTATION PLUS BENEFITS – Sony Pictures Core Movies Service

The new app, now called Sony Pictures Core, will be available to PS4 and PS5 console owners (along with Bravia TVs and Xperia devices) and includes exclusive perks for PlayStation Plus members. Sony claims that "up to 2,000 titles will be available to rent or purchase", including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Afterlife and others.

The new streaming app will also allow PS4 and PS5 owners to purchase select Sony movies during "an exclusive, early access period," Sony wrote in the blog post announcing the changes. The first film available for early access is Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story, currently available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with expanded access coming to other locations soon.

If you're a PlayStation Plus Premium or Deluxe subscriber, you'll also get access to a free "curated catalog of up to 100 movies" that are also ad-free. Sony promises to update this catalog "periodically," though there's no mention of when that might happen. Additional perks are also promised, though again, there's no word on what those perks might be.
