Splitgate developer 1047 Games has started teasing its next project, and so far it looks like it's more of the same. Fans are excited, but also a little confused.

Splitgate took the gaming world by storm in 2019 after its Early Access release. Much of the hype surrounding it was based on the idea that the game felt like playing the classic Halo in some ways. At the time, it also seemed to be getting better community support, which was especially shocking for an indie development studio.
Players who really wanted to succeed in Splitgate also tended to take advantage of the game’s core portal mechanic, which may have been game-breaking for other first-person shooters but introduced an entirely new meta to Splitgate—though casual players weren’t exactly crazy about it. Ultimately, Splitgate’s consistent support came to an end in a moment that, surprisingly, felt too soon for a game that was doing so well at the time.
1047 Games noted that Splitgate would still receive occasional support, but that the major project was now a new game. The only real information we know about the new title so far is that it's another free-to-play portal-based shooter.
