In the UK, there was more bad news on Sunday about the BBC's troubled dance show Strictly Come Dancing, the parent programme of 60 spin-offs around the world, including the US's Dancing With the Stars. The show was previously the broadcaster's flagship entertainment show and is expected to air soon in its 20th anniversary year.

“Is the show over!?” Strictly Come Dancing faces abuse claims after second dancer leaves

Dancer Giovanni Pernice has already left the show, but an investigation into his conduct is ongoing after his celebrity partner left the show last season for "medical reasons" and claimed she suffered from PTSD following his treatment of her.

Today's Sun newspaper has an interview with Abbington, in which she expands on her allegations, calling Pernice's behaviour "unnecessary, insulting, cruel and vile". She adds that she fears a backlash if she comes forward with her complaint, but that she looks forward to the release of the CCTV footage of their rehearsals: "I know what's on those tapes and I'm not worried about those tapes being seen."

However, the Daily Mail claims it has the exclusive right to claim that Pernice, who has denied all allegations against him, is expected to be acquitted after the lengthy investigation.
