Adding new backgrounds is easy. You can use your own images or let an app help you. This is what we like to use to keep our iPads fresh.

Open Unsplash, type in a search term, and browse through photos. When you find an image you like, tap it to view it full screen, then tap the down arrow in the bottom right corner of your screen to save it to your iPad. The Unsplash license lets you use all of these images for free.

NASA offers a searchable site for space photos and space-related images. Tap "Trending & Popular" to see some of the most iconic images, including photos of Mars, the entire planet Earth, or images of the moon landing. When you download an image, you can select from a variety of sizes (e.g., small, medium, large, or original resolution). Almost all NASA content is not protected by copyright and is freely available for personal, non-commercial use.

Many of us enjoy looking at a photo of friends, family, pets, or a favorite spot on an iPad’s lock screen or home screen. That makes sense, because the most personal background can be an image you capture or create. So open the Apple Photos app and browse through your photo albums to select an image that means something to you, then set it as your background.
