The Ultimate TOTS was supposed to be the highlight of the Team of the Season promo event and the entire Ultimate Team season. But the EA FC 24 Ultimate TOTS went about this task in a strange way, making some selections we weren’t expecting.
FC 25 is awesome!
The first thing that immediately stands out is the complete lack of goalkeepers. Goalkeepers are underrepresented in this year’s Team of the Season, but all releases so far have tried to include at least one. Apparently EA has decided that’s more than enough.
Another selection decision that surprised us is the apparent disdain for Ligue 1 and its champions Paris Saint-Germain. We referred to the competition as a sort of farmers league in our EA FC 24 Ligue 1 TOTS review , but only having two players in the EA FC 24 Ultimate Team of the Season seems a bit harsh to me, especially when all other competitions feature four or five players.
Besides the obvious, EA has also made its specialty of unnecessarily including weaker players where there are better options available from the same league or in the same position, and sometimes both. We don’t see a 96 OVR Vitinha, but there is a 94 OVR Lewis Ferguson. We get a 93 OVR Nico Schlotterbeck instead of a 96 OVR Alessandro Bastoni, and a 94 OVR Golovin instead of a 96 OVR Dybala or Griezmann.
